Administration bans weapons in marriage palaces, hotels
Patiala, February 5
The district administration has extended the ban on carrying weapons inside hotels, marriage palaces and community halls during wedding
ceremonies and other occasions.
Additional District Magistrate stated that a ban was imposed on carrying weapons used for firing in the air during celebrations. Moreover, songs promoting gun culture and display of guns on social media have been banned, the order read.
The order will remain in force till April this year.
In 2018, the Punjab Government had decided to seek an affidavit from those seeking a new arms licence or its renewal, in which they were to give an undertaking that they would not carry their weapons to wedding ceremonies and other functions.
The owners and managers of banquet halls and marriage palaces have been instructed to install metal detectors and security cameras to ensure that no one carries a weapon into the permises.
