Around 75 per cent Covid-19 positive patients in Patiala district belong to ‘urban’ areas.
Out of 126 positive cases (till Monday), 94 have been reported from urban areas while 32 surfaced from rural areas. Of these, 71 patients are males and 55 females informed the Health Department.
Rajpura block with 52 positive cases is the worst hit in the district, said the Health Department.
Rajpura was the first town in the state to be declared ‘Buffer Zone’ after a huge spike of cases.
Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Harish Malhotra said 78 cases were local while 47 cases were inter-state travellers, including pilgrims from Nanded, Maharashtra. He said one person had a travel history of abroad.
Dr Malhotra said, “Out of 126 patients, 106 have been cured while others are admitted at isolation ward. All the patients who are undergoing treatment are stable and recovering speedily. At present, we have only 18 active cases so far.”
To date, 5, 345 persons have been tested in the district of which 4,766 tested negative. Test reports of 457 patients are awaited.
Meanwhile, 3,751 people were home-quarantined who have travelled from various parts of the country.
The Civil Surgeon said, “Lot of people are coming to the district from various parts of the country without informing local authorities. I urge people to immediately report to the Health department for screening. People should play an active role in combating Covid-19 pandemic.”
