On a call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), bank employees a demonstration was held today in front of the Punjab National Bank’s Circle Office in Chhoti Baradari. Union leaders highlighting several pressing issues facing bank staff.

President of the Punjab Bank Employees Federation SK Gautam stated that their crucial demands remained unresolved. He criticised the Department of Financial Services (DFS) for micromanaging public sector banks (PSBs) on matters affecting employee service conditions and undermining bilateralism. Gautam also expressed strong opposition to outsourcing permanent bank jobs and unfair labour practices.

He announced that the UFBU would intensify its agitation, culminating in a 48-hour continuous strike on March 24 and 25.

Puneet Verma highlighted the increasing threats faced by officers and employees due to abusive customers and stressful working conditions caused by staff shortage. Sanjiv Sharma reiterated the long-standing demand for five-day banking, citing the global trend and the availability of alternative banking channels.
