BJP Mahila Morcha protests against Punjab govt in Patiala
Patiala, January 30
Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur today staged a protest against AAP government in the state over its failure to fulfil the promise of giving Rs 1,000 per month to the women of Punjab.
During a protest held at Patiala’s Fountain Chowk, Jai Inder Kaur also demanded immediate restoration of over 10 lakh ration cards that were earlier cancelled by the government.
She said, “The Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann gave a guarantee to the people of Punjab before the Vidhan Sabha elections that once elected, they will give Rs 1,000 per month to every woman above the age of 18 in the state. It’s been over 18 months and there is no sign of the government fulfilling one of its major poll promises.”
She also raised the issue of smart ration cards saying, “Around 10.77 lakh smart ration cards were cancelled by this government without any substantial reason. After facing protests over the issue, the government had last week stated that they were restoring these cards, but no such order has been passed to date.”
