BJP slams civic body, state govt over spike in dengue cases in Patiala
Patiala has reported more than 650 dengue cases
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur condemned the “gross mismanagement” of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Municipal Corporation (MC), holding them directly responsible for the alarming rise of dengue cases across Punjab.
With the state crossing over 4,000 dengue cases, and Patiala alone reporting more than 652 cases, she said the situation reflects a complete collapse of governance and an utter failure to protect citizens’ health. “It is especially shocking that Patiala, the home district of the Health Minister has become the worst-affected region, exposing the AAP Government’s incompetence and lack of preparedness,” she said.
The leader added that the crisis was a direct result of delayed fogging, inadequate anti-larval measures, poor sanitation work, and the Municipal Corporation’s inability to manage drainage and waste. “Overflowing drains, stagnant water, and widespread mosquito breeding have put residents at serious risk, while the authorities remained indifferent and passive. Reports of the government withholding dengue data further raise questions about transparency and accountability at the highest level,” she said.
Kaur criticised the AAP government for focusing more on publicity than public health, stating that their negligence has turned Patiala into a hotspot for dengue infections.
