Blaze at shop in Patiala, two firefighters injured
Patiala, January 23
Two firefighters were injured while dousing flames at a shop near the Sheetla Mata temple in Sanauri Adda this evening. The fire broke out at 7.30 pm at the shop-cum-residence of Ashok Kumar, who runs an oil extraction business.
The intense blaze was fueled by the presence of a significant amount of oil in the shop. The injured firefighters have been identified as Yoginder and Vijay Kumar. Prompt efforts by the fire brigade and the MC brought the fire under control.
The injured were rushed to the hospital. The firehose and Ashok’s shop were gutted in flames, and material worth lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes. DC Sakshi Sawhney reached the spot and ordered the staff to evacuate people from the area.
She said the reason behind the fire was not known yet. “It has been learned that some chemical caught fire. Further probe is on.” She added the area was densely populated, and all residents had been safely evacuated.
