Candle march held against Pahalgam attack in Patiala
Patiala witnessed a poignant display of solidarity and grief on Friday as college students and teachers organised a candle march to protest the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including foreign nationals, has left the nation in shock and mourning.
Students and faculty members from Multani Mal Modi College led the march, traversing the city streets while holding placards that expressed their condemnation of the heinous act.
Messages such as "Stop Terrorism" and "Justice for Victims" were prominently displayed, reflecting the collective anguish and demand for accountability. Participants also lit candles as a symbolic gesture to honor the victims and express solidarity with their grieving families.
The Punjab Student Union joined the protest, emphasizing the need for a united stand against terrorism. In their statements, union representatives called for stringent measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of civilians. The march concluded with a moment of silence, as attendees prayed for the souls of the deceased and the recovery of the injured.
The Pahalgam attack, which occurred in the scenic Baisaran meadow, has been described as one of the deadliest targeting civilians in recent years.
