Patiala, January 24
The Blood Centre (Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusions) of Government Medical College, organised a seminar at Chitkara University today. The event aimed to encourage youth to donate blood. The Dean of student welfare at the university, Dr Neelam Verma, was the chief guest for the seminar.
Addressing the gathering, the professor incharge of the Blood Centre at Government Medical College, Dr Monika Garg emphasised the importance of blood donation and provided insights related to this noble cause, underscoring the pivotal role of the youth in this endeavour.
Assistant Professor of Blood Centre Dr Rajni Bassi held a presentation on Thalassemia, stressing the role of awareness in its eradication.
A film on voluntary blood donation, produced by the department, was also screened at the seminar to engage and educate students. The seminar also featured a quiz competition that covered various aspects of blood donation.
