The classical music segment of the Patiala Heritage Festival concluded with mesmerising performances by renowned artists at the open stage in Qila Mubarak here today.
Renowned classical vocalists, Pandit Lakshman Krishna Rao and Meeta Pandit, presented renditions of classical and spiritual songs while qawwalis by Nazeer Ahmed Warsi and Naseer Ahmed Warsi added a majestic touch to the cultural celebration. Meeta Pandit, the first female exponent of the Gwalior gharana, showcased her expertise in classical singing along with her father. She commenced her performance with ‘Raag Bhupali’.
After the classical segment, the qawwalis presentation by the heirs of the Gwalior gharana, The Warsi brothers and their associates, Ustad Aziz Ahmed Khan, Ustad Zahir Ahmed Khan, sarangi player Kamal Ahmed, harmonium player Promita Mukherjee and vocal accompanists Rajneesh Kumar, Kashish Khattar, Adib Niazi and Sami Warsi, left the audience spellbound. — TNS
