Computer teachers drive e-rickshaws in protest

Patiala, January 17

As a symbolic protest against the state government for non-fulfilment of promises, Computer Teacher Union members drove e-rickshaws across the city.

One of the teachers pasted a ‘Searching CM’ poster on his e-rickshaw and said that 45 attempts have been made by the union to meet CM Bhagwant Mann, but the latter has not met them. The protestors demanded a merger of computer teachers with the education department. They said that the state government has deprived computer teachers of the benefits under the 6th Pay Commission.

The union members said that computer teachers from all over the state would assemble in Mohali on January 21 to participate in a state-wide rally. The president of the union, Paramjit Singh, said that similar rallies would be organised in other districts of the state too.

Meanwhile, the Mid-Day Meal Worker Union organised a protest rally and assembled outside the house of Health Minister Balbir Singh. The protesting staff demanded revised salaries and said that they should be offered summer and winter clothing.
