Congress holds event to honour Ambedkar

The Congress’ Bassi Pathana unit, led by senior party leader Dr Charanjit Singh organised a seminar on life of Dr BR Ambedkar under the “Jai Bapu Jai Bhim Jai Samvidhan” programme.

On the occassion, Bhagat Singh Saroa, an academician delivered a lecture detailing the life of Ambedkar.

Addressing the gathering the speaker termed Ambedkar “the great reformer of the 20th century” who gave the Constitution to the people of India.

“He was a visionary leader, social reformer, and the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. Born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, he faced severe caste discrimination but overcame these challenges through his remarkable academic achievements,” he said, adding that he was a staunch advocate for social equality and justice and he dedicated his life to fighting caste-based oppression and uplifting marginalised communities.

Saroa said Ambedkar’s biography serves as an inspiration for those seeking to learn about his pivotal role in shaping modern India.

Meanwhile, Manohar Singh in his address demanded the resignation of Union home minister Amit Shah for his remarks against Ambedkar, saying the people of the country will not tolerate any disrespect towards the leader.

Ramesh Gupta, OP Tangri, former presidents of Municipal Council Bassi Pathana, Naranjan Das President Beopar mandal. Kishori Lal vice president DCC, Karmjit Singh Dhindsa MC and other leaders were present.
