Cook at SHO’s house dies of gunshot wound

A cook at an SHO’s house in Patiala died of a gunshot wound in the city today.
Police officials said prima facie, it seemed to be a case of accidental firing. They have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC.
DSP Yogesh Sharma said 18-year-old Ram Bahadur worked as a cook at the house of the Tripuri SHO since long. “The SHO was having a bath when his cook pulled out the SHO’s revolver from his almirah and injured himself with a gunshot.”
He said Ram Bahadur was accustomed to taking a lot of selfies and probably accidentally shot himself in the head with the revolver, doing the same.
He said the injured was taken to Columbia Asia hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The family was later informed after which the police registered their statement. The postmortem and cremation was done today.
