Fatehgarh Sahib, February 14

A couple was injured in an LPG leak accident in Sirhind town this morning.

The victims were identified as Pandit Kailash Vias and Prem Lata. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The doctors there found Prem Lata’s condition critical and referred her to the PGI in Chandigarh.

Pandit Kailash Vias said around 4 am today, his wife went to make tea in the kitchen. As soon as she used the lighter, there was a loud explosion. She got injured in the blast. He added that due to the impact of the explosion, all glasses of the house broke. One of the broken glass hit his face, injuring him. The wall of the house also developed cracks, he said.

ASI Ranjit Singh said the police had started an investigation into the incident.
