Devotees carry out procession day after Shaheedi Sabha conclusion

While the three-day Shaheedi Sabha concluded on Friday, various groups of Nihang Sikhs led by their respective Jathedars took out concluding “Mohalla” (procession) from their deras to Gurudwara Jyoti Swarup Sahib, where the Sahibzadas were cremated. After paying obeisance, they exhibited their martial arts skills.

A large number devotees led by Baba Balbir Singh, chief of Budha Dal, riding on more than 200 horses showcased the traditional martial arts at BBSB Engineering College ground.

Baba Balbir Singh said the processions were an age-old tradition and exhorted everyone to work for the betterment of the nation and community building.

pays obeisance

Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and his family, meanwhile, paid obeisance at the Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib. He was escorted by Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind, SSP Dr Ravjot Grewal and other officials.

Paying tributes to the Sahibzadas, he said the martyrdom of two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, left an indelible mark on the minds of people. He said they preferred to be bricked alive at a young age of seven and nine over converting to Islam.

Sinha, meanwhile, said the roads of Fatehgarh Sahib would be recarpeted while appreciating the arrangements made by the district and police administration.
