Doctors at the Government Rajindra Hospital successfully conducted dialysis of the Covid patient. Doctors said a 57-year-old woman, a case of carcinoma cervix and chronic kidney disease, was referred from Oswal Hospital, Ludhiana, to Rajindra Hospital. The patient tested Covid positive on Saturday, doctors added.
Dr Paras Pandove, Medical Superintendent, Government Rajindra Hospital, said the patient was received at the ICU of the isolation ward in a critical condition. Immediately, the patient was put on oxygen support, other medications and stabilised, Dr Pandove added.
As soon as patient was admitted to the hospital, a dialysis team was activated, Dr Pandove said. They assessed patient and decided to do hemodialysis on Sunday morning, Dr Pandove added.
A team of doctors completed the dialysis procedure successfully in the Covid ICU itself, Dr Pandove said. “The patient is stable after dialysis. She will continue to remain in isolation,” Dr Pandove added.
