The Patiala administration has prohibited the sale of liquor in the villages, adjoining Ambala within a radius of eight kilometers.

This decision comes as the Haryana Assembly polls are scheduled for October 5. The order of prohibition on the sale of liquor and closure of vends will come into effect from October 3 and will remain in effect until October 5.

The orders further stated that October 8 would also be observed as a dry day. Vends would remain closed until the declaration of election results.

The orders also stated that storage and movement of liquor would also be disallowed during the period. The orders were issued following a request pertaining to the same by the Ambala Deputy Commissioner.
