Patiala, October 8

Members of the Punjab UT Employees and Pensioners Front today held a protest in the city over their demands for amendments in the Sixth Pay Commission and others. The protesters said they wanted the government to issue a notification for the release of the pay commission for pensioners, regularise contractual staff, implement Punjab pay scales for employees hired after 2020 and fulfil other demands.

Recently, the front held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Protesters said the meeting did not yield any results.

Front leaders said the state government was ignoring demands of pensioners and employees.
