Farmers block rail traffic for three hours at Sunam

A large number of members of the BKU (Ugrahan) today blocked rail traffic at Sunam railway station.

State president of BKU (Ugrahan) Joginder Singh Ugrahan, state vice-president Janak Singh Bhutal, state press secretary Jagtar Singh Kalajhar, district president Amrik Singh Gandhuan and district general secretary Darbara Singh Chhajla also took part.

Addressing farmers and women activists of the union, Ugrahan said they condemned the action of the police and supported the demands of the farmers, including complete waiving of loans of farmers, imprisonment to accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, law on guaranteed MSP on crops and implementation of the recommendations of the Swaminathan report to make farming profitable.

He said they would also not tolerate such type of action against farmers by the police.

Meanwhile, on the call of the SKM, farmer organisations freed Badbar Toll Plaza near Dhanaula in Barnala district. Likewise, farmers also made Kalajhar Toll Plaza near Channo in Sangrur district toll-free.
