Fatehgarh Sahib, January 24
The Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) is set to march to Delhi on February 13 to protest for the implementation of the demands conceded by the Central Government. This was decided in a meeting held under the leadership of BKU (Ekta Sidhupur).
Addressing mediapersons, the state general secretary of the union, Kaka Singh Kotla, said that the government had conceded the farmers’ demands over two years ago but has not implemented the decision. He said that farmer unions across the country will begin an agitation on February 13 in Delhi for the implementation of the conceded demands.
Kotla said that the government had promised to widen the Minimum Support Price (MSP) basket, but has not been implemented this. He said other demands such as withdrawal of cases filed against the farmers during the agitation, waiving farmer loans, and punishing the killers of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri have not been met, too.
