Fatehgarh Sahib, January 23
Bhartiya Kisan Union has decided to organise a tractor march on January 26 to protest against the government for non-fulfilment of their demands. This decision was taken at a meeting under the leadership of BKU (Rajewal) here today.
Addressing mediapersons, the union’s district president Bhupinder Singh Jallah said that BKU, led by state president Balbir Singh Rajewal, would hold a protest tractor march as the government has not fulfilled their demands yet. He said the farmer unions would gather at the new grain market in Sirhind at 11 am with their tractors. The district president said that the falling water level in the state is a cause for concern, and if the trend continues, Punjab would have to face a water shortage in a few years. He added that a meeting would be organised in Chandigarh to discuss this problem and devise plans to save water.
Kuldeep Singh was elected the union’s general secretary for the district.
