Fatehgarh police bust gangster Arsh Dalla’s network, two held
The district police claimed to have busted gangster Arsh Dalla's network with the arrest of two of its members and recovered five illegal 32 bore pistols and live cartridges from their possession. After their disclosures during interrogation, the police brought their handler from Patiala jail on production warrant.
Addressing mediapersons, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Ravjot Grewal said during campaign against gangsters the police succeeded in nabbing two gangsters at a naka set up on specific information in Sirhind town under the supervision of Rakesh Yadav, SP (Investigation), Nikhil Garg DSP (D) and Inspector Amarbir Singh, CIA in-charge.
Those arrested were identified as Sahil and Gurkirat Singh, both residents of Amritsar. The police recovered five illegal country-made 32 bore pistols along with live cartridges, one Activa scooter and two mobile phones from their possession.
The SSP said during preliminary investigation the accused revealed that they used to work for Arsh Dalla's gang on the directions of one Tejbir Singh, alias Sabu, presently lodged in Patiala Central Jail for murder and illegal arms-related cases. He said, "Sabu is an associate of gangster Arsh Dalla.
The SSP said Gurkirat Singh had returned from Malaysia in May 2024 after staying there for a year. The accused were presently supplying arms for criminal activities and on a mission to collect ransom, but the police intervention prevented a major incident.
SP (Investigation) Rakesh Yadav said, “Tejbir Singh has been brought from Patiala jail for further interrogation. All the three accused are in police remand. The police will thoroughly investigate their forward-backward links for supplying illegal weapons, the purpose of procurement of firearms and targets assigned by their foreign handler Arsh Dalla.”
Yadav said both the arrested gangsters were already facing various criminal cases in Amritsar and other parts of the state. He said during their further interrogation more recoveries and disclosures were likely to be made.
