Fatehgarh Sahib DC bats for transparency
The officials and staff of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office ushered in the New Year by taking a pledge to serve the society with greater devotion and enthusiasm.
DC Dr Sona Thind urged them to work harder and in a transparent manner and to redress the grievances of the people on priority.
Highlighting the district's achievements, she said there was a significant reduction in the cases of stubble burning in the district as only 231 sites were found by the Punjab Remote Sensing Center (PRSC) during the paddy season in 2024, down from last year's 888.
She revealed that 118 farmers of the district who did not burn stubble were specially honored.
Looking at other areas, the DC said 628 modern agricultural machinery was provided on subsidy of about Rs 11.5 crore, while more than 6 lakh people were checked up at the 20 Aam Aadmi Clinics and lab tests of more than 72,000 patients were done free of cost.
Besides, more than 70,000 beneficiaries of various schemes were given benefits of over Rs 10 crore.
