Fatehgarh Sahib DC, local MLA launch cleanliness campaign
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Sona Thind and local MLA Lakhvir Singh Rai launched a cleanliness drive from Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib ahead of the annual Shaheedi Jor Mela.
More than 20 lakh devotees are expected to pay obeisance at historical Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, where younger Sahibjadas of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked alive.
The Jor Mela will officially commence from December 25 to 27.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said for the convenience of the Sangat coming from all across the country and abroad, the campaign has been started with the help of Sant Baba Kashmira Singh Bhuri Wale to clean the city.
The DC, meanwhile, said the district administration is making proper arrangements for the convenience of the devotees. She said that temporary toilets, clean drinking water, and smooth flow of traffic. She said Fatehgarh Sahib SDM and Tehsildar have been directed to remove the illegal encroachments made on the roads. She thanked Sant Baba Kashmira Singh Bhuri Wale for providing machines for cleaning.
Sant Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuri Wale said volunteers will perform duty 24 hours a day so that the devotees do not face any problem.
