Fatehgarh Sahib native shot dead by relative in US
A native of the district’s Ria village was allegedly shot dead by a relative in the US.
The 39-year-old victim, Jatinder Singh, had moved to the US 10 years ago and was working as a truck driver. He is survived by his wife and a daughter who have also been living with him in the US.
The accused, meanwhile, has been identified as Ginda, a native of Alour village near Mandi Gobindgarh.
The victim’s neighbour, Avtar Singh, said Jatinder Singh was the youngest of four siblings. His sister also lives in the US while his elder brother and another sister live back home in India.
According to the information, both the victim and the accused, who is also his relative, worked as truck drivers in the transport company being run by the former’s brother-in-law.
Jatinder’s brother-in-law had come to India for some work around 10 days ago, leaving him in-charge of transport business.
During that period, Jatinder and Ginda engaged in a heated exchange over a work-related issue, which later turned violent.
The accused allegedly shot Jatinder, who died on the spot. Following the incident, the accused fled from the sport and he is currently on the run.
The victim’s neighbour said he would be cremated in the US itself.
