Fatehgarh Sahib: Sarpanch ends life, Congress leader among 3 booked for abetment
Fatehgarh Sahib, July 14
A Congress leader, the Block Development and Panchyat Officer (BDPO), Amloh, and the panchayat secretary of Salana Dulla Singh Wala village have been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of the village sarpanch.
Amloh DSP Jangjit Singh said on a complaint of Nachatar Singh, father of victim Gurpreet Singh, a case under Sections 306, 506 and 34 of the IPC was registered against Congress leader Satwinder Mohan, aka Happy, the husband of the president of the MC Amloh, Kulwinder Singh, BDPO, Amloh Block, and Gurpreet Singh, panchayat secretary. While Satwinder has been arrested, the police are conducting raids to nab others.
The complainant stated that his son allegedly shot himself dead in his fields. An alleged suicide note was recovered from the site in which the victim stated that Congress leader Happy Sood, who ran an interlocking tiles factory and supplied the tiles for development works in the village, in connivance with the BDPO and the panchayat secretary were responsible for his death.
The victim’s mother, Charanjit Kaur, said the Congress leader had sent 12,000 tiles and got his signature on 42,000 tiles in connivance with officials. Similarly, the panchayat secretary added 100 bags of cement to the account of the panchayat and also altered the bills for the cleaning of the village pond, due to which her son was depressed for the past several days. She alleged that her son was being continuously harassed by the panchayat secretary and the Congress leader and he allegedly shot himself today.
