Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Patiala mayor Sanjeev Sharma Bittu quit the party and returned to the Congress fold today.

Once considered close to the former Chief Minister (CM) Capt Amarinder Singh, he had left the Congress when Capt Amarinder quit the party to join the BJP. However, he was sidelined within the Capt Amarinder camp following some differences.

Bittu had also contested the last Vidhan Sabha polls from Patiala (rural) on a BJP ticket and sources say he is now eyeing the Congress ticket from Patiala urban constituency. He served as the Patiala Mayor during former Capt Amarinder’s term as the CM.
