Heritage Fest kicks off with nature walk
The Patiala Heritage Festival began today with a nature walk at the Environment Park, promoting a collective commitment to environmental conservation. The festival is a joint initiative of the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Punjab, and the district administration.
The first day concluded with a historical play, “Sirhind Di Deewar”, which was based on the supreme sacrifice of the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh, at the Harpal Tiwana Auditorium. Veteran actress Nirmal Rishi was the highlight on the stage. The play left the audience teary eyed.
At the nature walk, district officials stressed the importance of environmental responsibility and urged people to not only plant trees but also nurture them.
Encouraging residents to contribute to environmental purity, the Patiala Deputy Commissioner and other officials advocated for reconnecting with nature for overall well-being as well as integrating walking into daily routines for a healthier lifestyle. A large number of students from the Government Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, Passi Road, were also present.
