Hockey meet: RCF, Punjabi University, STC & Corps of Signals enter semis

RCF Kapurthala, Punjabi University, STC Kurukshetra and Corps of Signals made it to the semi-finals of the 45th Liberals GS Bains Hockey tournament at Nabha.
In the first quarter-final, Punjabi University defeated Jammu and Kashmir Police (4-1) to enter the semi-finals.

The second quarter-final match was played between ASC Jalandhar and RCF Kapurthala. The RCF emerged victorious (7-6) in a tie-breaker after the two sides were locked at 3-3 in the regulation period. ASC lads scored two quick goals, but the RCF converted a short corner in the 13th minute to reduce the lead (2-1). The ASC then added another goal in the 40th minute. Two more goals in the 45th minute and 54th minute were made by the RCF. The match was then decided by a tie-breaker and the Rail Coach Factory emerged victorious.
In the third quarter-final, Corps of Signals, Jalandhar, managed to edge past Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai, with a lone goal victory. Meanwhile, SAI Kurukshetra managed to outwit CRPF, New Delhi, (4-2) to book the last place in the semi-finals.
