A day after the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) ordered that 8,500 cusecs of water be released to Haryana from the Bhakra Dam, AAP activists staged protest in front of the houses of the BJP’s leaders and raised slogans against the BBMB.

AAP leaders marched towards the residence of senior BJP leader Capt Amarinder Singh and Preneet Kaur. The AAP leaders termed it as an act of injustice against Punjab at the behest of the BJP’s government in the Centre. The protesters also and burned an effigy of the Central Government.

AAP MLAs Gurdev Singh Dev Mann of Nabha and Kulwant Singh Bazigar of Shutrana said the BJP had been giving step-motherly treatment to Punjab.

MLA Mann said Punjab barely had enough water to suffice its own needs and Haryana had already taken more water than its share. Now, by stealing 8,500 cusecs of water, they doing injustice with Punjab, which would not be tolerated, he said.
