Install 350-foot pillar named ‘Minar-e-Freedom of Religion’ at Sri Anandpur Sahib: Chandumajra to SGPC
Writes a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and another to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Harjinder Singh Dhami
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Member of Parliament Prem Singh Chandumajra, former MLA Harinderpal Singh Chandumajra, and their team welcomed the Nagar Kirtan, which started from the sacred Dhupri Sahib in Assam — where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib had given his footprints. The Nagar Kirtan reached Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala today, while travelling through various states across the country, and departed for Sri Anandpur Sahib.
Chandumajra said the ninth Sikh master, Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, sacrificed his life for the protection of religion. “Therefore, a 350-foot pillar named “Minar-e-Freedom of Religion” should be constructed at Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark his 350th martyrdom day. For this purpose, I have written a letter to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and another letter to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami,” he said.
He said, “Just as the “Pillar of Unity” has been installed in Gujarat in memory of Sardar Patel, the true deserving place for such a monument is the land of Sri Anandpur Sahib, where the sacrifice for the protection of religion was made.”
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami and members Jarnail Singh Kartarpur, Satvinder Singh Tohra and Kuldeep Kaur Tohra were also present on the occasion.
