Fatehgarh Sahib’s 17 police martyrs remembered, families honoured

The martyrdom of those jawans of Punjab Police, who sacrificed their lives to maintain law and order in the ditrict, would always be remembered. Punjab Police has a glorious history and have made great sacrifices to maintain the unity, integrity and brotherhood of the country, which can never be forgotten, said Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Ravjot Grewal, while addressing a function organised to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of martyrs at the police line here today.

The families of the 17 police martyrs, who died in service of the public in the last year, belonging to the district were honoured here today on National Police Commemoration Day.

The SSP said it was a matter of great pride for the Punjab Police that its 693 officers and jawans had sacrificed not only their lives, but their families, for the national cause and to save the lives and properties of people.

She said Punjab Police was the only force across the whole world that had had succeeded in eradicating terrorism from their state completely.

She said it was the moral duty of the police force to extend all possible help to all 17 families of martyrs belonging to the district, who had lost their bread earners. She urged them to directly approach her for any help.

District and Sessions Judge Arun Gupta also paid obeisance the martyrs.

He said that the sacrifices made by these martyrs would remain a source of inspiration and a guiding force for one and all, not only in this district but across all of Punjab.

He called upon all the NGOs in the area to come forward to extend all possible help and respect to these families.

On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Surinder Singh, SP (D) Rakesh Yadav, DSP Raminder Singh Kahlon, DSP Gurdeep Singh, DSP Gurdeep Singh Deol, DSP Hartesh Kaushik and family members of the martyred jawans, police officers and employees paid tributes to the martyrs in numbers.
