Man arrested for shooting 52-year-old near Patiala old bus stand

The police have cracked the murder case of a 52-year-old man who was shot dead at an office near the old bus stand area of the city late last night. The victim has been identified as Mahinder Singh, a resident of Anand Nagar.

The police have arrested the accused identified as Honey Wadhwa and recovered the licenced weapons used in the killing.

The incident took place around 10 pm when both the accused and the victim were reportedly consuming liquor. The initial report suggested that a heated argument between Mahinder and the accused led to the killing.

According to SP City Palwinder Singh Cheema, the prima facie investigation has revealed that that the accused Honey Wadhwa wanted to avenge the assault on his father.

Wadhwa’s father, meanwhile, was assaulted recently and the accused nursed a grudge and assumed Mohinder Singh to be responsible for the assault.

The accused fired five shots on the head and chest of the victim, killing him on the spot. After the murder the accused fled the scene.

After initial investigation the police took the body in their possession and sent it to Rajindra Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
