The incident took place around 10 pm when both the accused and the victim were reportedly consuming liquor. The initial report suggested that a heated argument between Mahinder and the accused led to the killing.

According to SP City Palwinder Singh Cheema, the prima facie investigation has revealed that that the accused Honey Wadhwa wanted to avenge the assault on his father.

Wadhwa’s father, meanwhile, was assaulted recently and the accused nursed a grudge and assumed Mohinder Singh to be responsible for the assault.
