Man arrested in Panchkula for molesting minor stepdaughters

The police have arrested a man for allegedly molesting his stepdaughters.

Sharing the information, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Srishti Gupta informed that a 34-year-old woman lodged a complaint at the Sector 2 Police Post.

The woman, originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Panchkula, accused her second husband, also from Uttar Pradesh, of molesting her daughters.

The woman revealed that the accused had molested her 13-year-old and 15-year-old daughter on multiple occasions.

Based on the police complaint, a case under Section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Sector 5 police station.

Acting promptly, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Pooja arrested the accused on Tuesday. He is said to be the complainant’s maternal uncle’s son.

The DCP added that both minors have been provided legal aid counselling to safeguard their mental well-being.

She emphasised that the safety of women and children remains the top priority of Panchkula Police, and no negligence will be tolerated in such cases.
