Mand singers Ali-Gani Bandhu performance leaves audience mesmerised

The three-day Sawan Utsav organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) at Kalidasa Auditorium, Virsa Vihar Kendra, concluded here today with Mand songs presented by Padma Shri awardee singer Ali-Gani Bandhu from Bikaner, Rajasthan, and Sufiana songs presented by Amandeep Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala.

The two brothers, known as Mand singers, have performed with liveliness in cultural programmes held around the world as well as in the film industry.

During the Utsav, the Ali Ghani brothers sang Sawan Ri Boonda Dhola Bars Rai together. Understanding the importance of the Sawan Utsav celebrations, Mand singers presented the art of Rajasthani folk singing in excellent style.

Artistes, who performed alongside, include Tahir Hussain on tabla, Dhyan Ali on sarangi, Liaquat Ali on dholak and Naushad Ali on prakashan. On the occasion, Director, North Zone Cultural Centre, M Furqan Khan, while felicitating artistes, said it was his endeavour to keep organising such programmes for the audience and listeners from time to time.
