Delay in the disbursal of salary prompted a protest at Rajindra Hospital as nursing staff raised slogans against the lack of action over their demand of timely payments.

The four-hour-long demonstration, which began at 8 am, was called off around 11am after the government released salaries for the month of June.

The protest was led by senior nursing staffer Amrinder Kaur Saggu, who expressed deep frustration over the recurring delays.

“Since March, the salary schedule has been erratic. Our March salary was credited on April 23, and May’s salary came through only on June 8,” she said, adding that such delays severely impact the staff’s ability to meet essential household expenses, including school fees, utility bills, and daily essentials.

Despite the protest, hospital officials confirmed that patient care services remained unaffected.

“The staff ensured that emergency and routine medical services continued without disruption. The protest was held after the completion of their night duty,” Saggu clarified.

Medical Superintendent Dr Vishal Chopra confirmed that the salaries were credited at 11am, leading to the conclusion of the protest.
