Minister holds surprise check at city hospital, takes stock of pills

Patiala, February 1

Health minister Dr Balbir Singh conducted a surprise check at Mata Kaushalya Hospital to check the availability of medicine. He said he will conduct similar surprise checks in various government hospitals across the state. He instructed the Health Department officials to pay surprise visits at health facilities in their respective districts.

The sudden shift in weather has triggered influenza, which has led to rise in hospitalisation across the state.

Singh also visited the wards and collected feedback from patients regarding the medicines they receive from the hospital. He conducted a thorough inspection of the hospital, including the OPD, emergency services, ICU, ultrasound facilities, and wards.

While engaging with patients, he conveyed that as per the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, 291 different essential medicines are now being provided free of cost.

He said all hospitals in the state are being monitored online through the state board, ensuring proper management. He also informed that the scheme initiated by the Punjab Government for road accident victims will prove beneficial.

Singh highlighted that private hospitals have also been encouraged to join this scheme to save precious lives. Colonel JV Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Raminder Kaur, and Medical Superintendent Dr Jagpal Singh were also present during the visit.
