Mobile, SIM card seized from jail, 2 inmates booked

The Patiala police have booked two inmates of the Patiala Central Jail after the authorities seized a mobile from them on Saturday.

On suspicion, the jail authorities, led by the Assistant Jail Superintendent, frisked the inmates and recovered a mobile phone, a removable battery and a SIM card from them. The suspects have been identified as Gurveer Singh and Palwinder Singh, both residents of Mohali district.

The police said when the Assistant Jail Superintendent was closing the langar hall inside the jail around 6.30 pm on Friday, he got suspicious that inmates were having a mobile phone. On checking, jail officials recovered the banned material. —TNS
