National Lok Adalat to convene in Patiala on September 13 for amicable dispute resolution
In a significant move towards facilitating swift and harmonious dispute resolution, a National Lok Adalat will be held across District Patiala on Saturday, September 13, 2025. According to a press release, this initiative, directed by the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali, and spearheaded by Harinder Sidhu, Learned Additional District Sessions Judge-1-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, aims to settle a wide array of cases through compromise. The Lok Adalat will address matters, including cheque bounce cases, money recovery disputes, labour and employment issues, electricity and water bill payments (excluding non-compoundable offenses), maintenance claims, criminal compoundable cases, and various other civil disputes. Cases pending in courts and tribunals, such as MACT cases, matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce), land acquisition cases pending before civil courts, service matters related to pay and allowances, retirement benefits, and revenue cases, will also be taken up. To ensure accessibility, Benches of Judicial Courts will be constituted at Patiala, Rajpura, Samana and Nabha.
