New Krishi Vigyan Kendra proposed at Patiala meeting

During a meeting held at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Rauni, Patiala, the top brass of agricultural leadership from the Centre and state came together in an exchange of ideas aimed at transforming Indian agriculture.

Emphasis was laid on addressing the needs of Punjab’s ecologically sensitive Kandi region, with a request for establishing a new KVK to support farmers across its 300-km stretch, from Dera Bassi to Pathankot.

The meeting, held in conjunction with the “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” and World Environment Day celebrations, witnessed the presence of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare & Rural Development; Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Punjab; Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, alongside scientists, bureaucrats and a large number of farmers.

Acknowledging PAU’s role in securing India’s food self-sufficiency, Chouhan expressed admiration for the university’s research-driven approach and farmer-centric outreach.
