No compromise on safety of medics: Patiala DC
Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav today reviewed the arrangements made to ensure the safety of medical professionals in all government and private hospitals during a meeting with the District Health Board.
She indicated that the meeting involved assessing the safety measures in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court and the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to ensure the safety of medical and healthcare professionals.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed various safety protocols, including the ID cards of all doctors and healthcare professionals, lighting arrangements in hospitals during night, CCTV cameras, night patrols by the police, mapping of police stations near hospitals, safety committees, information about the Punjab Medicare Protection Act and display boards giving information on committees to address violence against working women and sexual harassment.
She emphasised that there should be no compromise on the safety of medical professionals and that there would be no tolerance for any lapses in ensuring that patients receive treatment in an environment free of any fear. She mentioned that safety audits of hospitals would be conducted with the involvement of SDMs and SMOs concerned and review reports would be sent to them.
The DC directed officials concerned to create an environment in hospitals as per Punjab government guidelines, ensuring that doctors face no difficulties while treating patients and that no harmful element could cause any harm to healthcare professionals. She stressed that prompt action should be taken if any such incident occurred. The meeting was attended by SP City Sarfaraz Alam, ADCs Kanchan and Navreet Kaur Sekhon and SDMs Arvind Kumar, Ravinder Singh and Richa Goel.
