Online draw to give farmers subsidies on agricultural machines
Fatehgarh Sahib, January 12
Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill organised an online draw today to provide subsidies to farmers to buy agricultural machines under the Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanisation (SAM) scheme.
The DC said that the farmers selected through the draw will be given subsidies amounting to Rs 31.88 lakh. She added that nine pneumatic planters, two DSRs, seven potato planters, two semi-automatic potato planters, five automatic potato planters and five ledger land labels would be provided to the farmers picked up through the draw.
Later, the DC visited various villages and talked to farmers get their suggestions for proper stubble management. Shergill visited the fields of the farmers who did not burn stubble this season and inspected the wheat sown by them after ploughing the paddy stubble. She also visited the fields of farmers who continue to engage in stubble-burning in village Pola and educated them about the health hazards caused by a surge in pollution, adding that stubble-burning is a major contributor to the rising pollution levels. The DC urged farmers in the village to stop the practice of stubble-burning for a better future.
