Patiala artistes mark centenary of writer Mohan Rakesh

Theatre personnel, members and artistes of the National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS), as well as general admirers celebrated centenary of Hindi writer and dramatist Mohan Rakesh.

Scholars like Veerpal Kaur Dhaliwal, head of the Punjabi Department Modi College, and Amrinder Singh, Assistant Director Punjab Department of Language dwelt upon the life and achievements of the writer at the event, which was convened by Pran Sabharwal.

Sabharwal, sharing his experiences with Mohan Rakesh, said that before shifting to Delhi, the writer was the head of the Hindi Department, at DAV College, Jalandhar, and used to write for Akashwani Jalandhar, where Sabharwal was drama artist.

He added that his association with Mohan Rakesh continued till his death.

NTAS President GS Kakkar, Theatre personalities Mohan Kamboj and Gopal Sharma also joined in paying tributes at the portrait of the great soul and two minutes silence.

Sabharwal announced that the next 276th Monthly Garden Natak Mela would be dedicated to scholar of Punjabi, Hindi and Sanskrit, Prem Parkash Singh Dhaliwal, on Sunday at Baradari Gardens Theatre Complex.
