Patiala DC orders officials to bolster vigil to prevent diarrhoea outbreak

Officials told to ensure that samples found to be contaminated are confirmed through lab testing.

To prevent diarrhoea, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Preeti Yadav has issued strict instructions to all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), Civil Surgeons, all Senior Medical Officers, (SMO) and all Municipal Corporation officials to remain vigilant during the monsoon season.

The action was taken after government diarrhea outbreak in Allipur Arian area of the city claiming two lives- a 70- year -old woman and a two- year- old girl - while 70 area residents were taken ill after consuming polluted water.

The DC said all officers should understand their responsibilities and directed all SDMs to coordinate with EOs of Municipal Committees and Water Supply Departments in their respective areas to conduct local H2S kit tests in areas affected over the past five years. They must also ensure that samples found to be contaminated are confirmed through lab testing.
