Patiala, July 3

The district reported 18 new Covid-19 cases today. Of the positive cases, 10 cases were reported from Patiala city, two each from Nabha, Kauli and Kahlo Majra, while Samana and Rajpura reported one case each. Health officials said genome sequencing reports of the tested cases showed prevalence of sub-types of Omicron variant. Officials said they had released guidelines to the residents to ensure testing if required.

District Epidemiologist Dr Sumeet Singh said, “The genome sequencing reports of all Covid-19 cases, identified in the month of June, have been received. Most of them show prevalence of Omicron variant. We have identified further variants of Omicron in which the need for hospitalisation of a patient is low with mild symptoms. At present no patient in on ventilator.”
