It has been learnt that a new sub-lineage of Omicron variant was responsible for the rise in the Covid cases. However, health officials are refraining to comment over this.

Dr Sumeet Singh, District Epidemiologist, said people should start following Covid appropriate behaviour since the cases had started to rise in the district. He said, “So far, there is no clustering of Covid cases, however, there is considerable rise in cases.”

Meanwhile, the Health Department, despite rising Covid cases, has failed to ramp up testing in the district. Health Department today collected only 383 Covid samples in the district.
