Patiala, July 16
Guest professors working at the neighbourhood campuses and constituent colleges of Punjabi University held a sit-in at the Dean’s office today to demand approval for the 2024–25 session.
The leaders of the union mentioned that the syndicate had already given these professors 12 months of approval. However, the current university authorities ignored this decision and issued a notice for re-interviews for the guest faculty.
Dean resigns
Dr Ashok Tewari, who holds the post of registrar along with Dean Academic at Punjabi University, tendered his resignation today. Tewari filed his resignation following a heated argument with the guest faculty who were protesting outside his office.
Tewari wrote his resignation on the spot and sent it to Vice-Chancellor KK Yadav. As of now, the resignation has not been accepted by the VC.
Dr Tiwari refused to speak about the reason behind his resignation.
