Patiala hospital blood centre receives National Award

The Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (blood centre) at Government Medical College, Patiala, has been honoured with a prestigious National Award for its outstanding contributions to blood transfusion services.

The award was presented during the National Conclave on Blood Transfusion Services, held in Kochi, Kerala, and organised by the National Blood Transfusion Council, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This annual event recognises the best-performing blood centres across India for their excellence in service.

Among 183 blood centres in Punjab, the Blood Centre at Government Medical College, Patiala, stood out for its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality blood transfusion services, ensuring the wellbeing of patients in need.

Dr Krishan Kumar, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Council, presented the award to Dr Monika Garg and Dr Rajni Bassi, who accepted it on behalf of the institution. Dr Rajan Singla, Director Principal of Government Medical College, Patiala, expressed that the recognition is a testament to the team's dedication in maintaining the highest standards in blood transfusion services.
