MC Commissioner Paramvir Singh suspended a plumber for allegedly threatening a junior colleague for fixing a snag in New Yadvindra Colony on the Sirhind road during a protest by civic body employees.
The suspension order read that plumber Mohit Kumar would report at the main office and would be issued chargesheet.
It was alleged that the MC plumber reprimanded his junior colleague who had left the protest and visited a colony to fix the snag.
A purported audio clip of plumber Mohit went viral in which he was heard reprimanding the colleague for visiting the colony located on the Sirhind road for maintaining a sewerage connection when the union was holding a protest at the MC office. Mohit reportedly snubbed his junior and told him that he would be marked as absent from duty.
Two children had died due to water contamination in New Yadavindra Colony last year.
Sunil Kumar, member of joint action committee of the MC, expressed strong reservation over Mohit’s suspension and demanded immediate revocation of the order.
Despite repeated attempts neither the MC Commissioner nor the suspended plumber could be contacted for comments.
