Veerpal Kaur, Joint Director, Punjab Languages Department, honoured veteran theatre couple socio-theatre activist Pran Sabharwal (92) and actor-director poet Sunita Sabharwal (87) at the Abhinandan session of NTAS 37th annual month-long theatre workshop, here.

She presented highly informative literary gift of 700 page Language Department’s pride publication “Punjab” edited by globally acclaimed art patron and literature — Dr MS Randhawa, ICS — to them during thundering applause.

She said the honour was bestowed on them as a token of appreciation of their six decade socio-theatre services, rendered in India and abroad towards spreading Punjabi language, theatre and culture. On the occasion, Sunita recited her Punjabi poem “Adio Nee Ajj Mahi Ne Auna” from her under print poetry book “Kujh Hor Suna Sunita” to the appreciation of the gathering. GS Kakkar, president, National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS), expressing gratitude to chief guest Veerpal Kaur informed that under 21-year- old Monthly Garden Theatre Movement of NTAS covered 238 monthly theatre episodes till now.
